Feed- in tariff
Program "Green Tariff" is intended for owners of alternative sources of electricity and is aimed at promoting environmentally friendly autonomous energy supply. Oblenergo purchases the energy generated by photomodules, offering payment at an inflated tariff compared to the amount charged for consumption. The program is limited by specific terms, payment terms depend on the year of connection.
"Green Tariff" in Ukraine - options for making money on alternative energy
The development of alternative energy and close interaction between the owners of solar stations and the state — current global trend followed by more than 50 countries. In Ukraine, this topic is becoming increasingly popular among both individuals and legal entities.
Starting from 2009, making money on alternative energy has become a reality with proper design and installation of solar power plants, the fulfillment of all conditions stipulated by the "green tariff". The program is designed until 2030, its main goal — attracting investments, including foreign ones, to the alternative energy industry developing in Ukraine. At the end of this period, a revision of the mechanism for the exchange of green energy between private individuals and the state, recalculation of tariff rates is expected.
Highlights of the program for individuals
"Green tariff" in Ukraine provides for the purchase by the state of surplus electricity, which is generated by privately installed photomodules. SES owners are offered a fixed rate in euro, regardless of exchange rate fluctuations and the situation on the world market. The cost of power transmitted from solar panels is 4-5 times higher than consumption rates.
The result of such interaction is manifested in a complex way:
-
The owner of the solar power plant receives a stable profit and the opportunity to significantly save on ever-growing utility bills.
-
The production and transmission of electricity comes from an environmentally friendly source without harm to the environment.
The program is designed for grid and hybrid power plants. According to the current conditions, green electricity can be transferred to the state only from home solar power plants with a capacity of up to 30 kW. The primary task of the stations — meeting the household's own energy consumption needs. The surplus generated by photomodules is automatically transferred to the fixed network. A bidirectional counter is used to record the transmitted powers. Calculations are made monthly based on the data received.
Mandatory conditions for the implementation of the program
In addition to the capacity limitations of solar power plants, feed-in tariffs for electricity in Ukraine are offered only subject to a number of conditions:
-
Panels are placed on the roof or ground structures near a private house. Availability of building — a prerequisite for the program.
-
Home ownership must necessarily have the status of a residential building put into operation and connected to a stationary power grid.
-
Requirements are also made to the land plot. According to the intended purpose, the land should be suitable for residential development.
-
Proof of being in a privately owned home by the person planning to install PV modules is required.
-
For one person — the owner of different plots can install only one solar station.
In the spring of 2019, the law "On alternative sources of electricity" The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has been amended. The changes regulate restrictions for owners of private solar power plants installed after January 1, 2020:
-
SPP owners who plan to sell electricity at the Feed-in Tariff can only install PV modules on the roof of residential and commercial buildings.
-
The maximum power of stations for a household is 50 kW.
The above changes do not apply to legal entities. For them, the original conditions of the program apply.
What affects the feed-in tariff rate?
Prices for the "green tariff" depend on the year of connection to the program — the earlier the connection, the higher the fixed rate.
Reason for reduced payments:
-
systematic development of the alternative energy market;
-
excess of supply over demand;
-
motivation of persons interested in making money on alternative energy to launch the project as soon as possible.
Reduction of the payment fixed in eurocents per kWh of electricity occurs every 5 years. The green energy tariff for the current program is calculated as follows:
-
When the solar station is commissioned by the end of 2024, the tariff rate will be 0.16 euro cents / kWh.
-
If the launch of the solar power plant is scheduled for 2025-2029, the price of the "green tariff" in Ukraine it will be a little lower — 0.14 cents/kWh
The procedure for connecting to the "green tariff" program
Designation of the "green tariff" - a step-by-step procedure, the duration of which ranges from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on the availability of the necessary documentation, the fulfillment of the connection conditions. After the development of the station project based on individual measurements and conditions, a general scheme for implementing the procedure is provided:
-
Installation of a bidirectional meter on the territory of the household, which will be connected to the station itself and the stationary power grid.
-
Opening a bank account.
-
Simultaneous submission of an application for connection to an energy company and a SES connection scheme.
-
Signing an agreement for the sale of surplus electricity generated by the state grid.
SUNSAY Energy specialists offer legal and technical support at every stage of joining the program. Cooperation begins from the moment the collaborator leaves The company's experts to assess the installation area of the future solar power plant, perform measurements and continue throughout the entire period of operation of the solar power plant.
Return on investment in green energy
The green energy tariff has a fixed value, but the final income of SPP owners and the return period for the funds invested in the project may vary depending on the following indicators:
-
Equipment power.
The more kW that can be transmitted under the "green tariff", the shorter the payback period of the solar station. -
Quality of PV modules.
The performance of the station is affected by the material of the plates, their size, and assembly features. We work with trusted brands, offering our customers high-quality certified products. -
Professional editing and monitoring.
The reliability of the assembly, backed up by constant online monitoring of the station from the moment it was put into operation, — a guarantee of proper operation, maintaining the performance of solar power plants at a high level. -
Climatic features of the region.
"Green Tariff" brings maximum income if the photomodules are correctly oriented relative to the light flux, the shading factor is taken into account. All of the above criteria are taken into account by SUNSAY Energy specialists at the design stage for optimal solar power plant efficiency.
For comparison, we can cite the profitability of projects with a capacity of 10 and 30 kW in the southern regions of Ukraine:
-
The cost of green energy sold by Oblenergo from a 10 kW solar power plant is about 2 thousand dollars per year. A similar indicator for a 30 kW station — 7 thousand dollars.
-
The payback of a 10 kW solar power plant during the implementation of the program is at least 5 years. For a 30 kW station, this period is reduced to 4 years.
Installation of solar stations under the Green Tariff program — not just a transition to environmentally friendly nature management and a way of energy autonomy. In the realities of modern times, the use of green energy for transfer to the state is considered as an effective economic mechanism that can influence the economy of the whole region.
